Cabinet Refinishing in Portland, OR & SW Washington

Kitchen Cabinets

Keep the cabinets. Transform the kitchen.

Dated, dark-wood cabinets make the whole kitchen feel old. If the boxes are solid and the layout works, you don’t need new cabinets. You need a new finish. Refinishing gives you the remodeled look in days, not weeks, at a fraction of the cost of replacement.

Full cabinet replacement means demolition, five-figure quotes and weeks without a working kitchen. Refinishing keeps everything that already works (boxes, layout, hardware placement) and changes the one thing you actually see: the finish. Pair it with new knobs and pulls, and the kitchen reads as brand new.

What this is not: a house painter with a brush and a can of trim paint. Ordinary painted cabinets chip at the corners and show brush marks in the light. We refinish cabinets with a spray-applied coating system engineered specifically for cabinetry, so the result looks and wears like a factory finish.

Is refinishing the right choice for your cabinets?

If your cabinet boxes are in good, solid condition and you’re happy with the current style of your cabinets and the layout of your kitchen, refinishing is almost certainly the smartest spend. It is the most affordable way to change the overall look of your kitchen. Depending on the type of cabinets you have, the hinges can be updated to a more modern style if requested, and new knobs and handles complete the transformation.

“Will it chip? Will it look painted?”

Fair questions. Most people have seen a DIY paint job peel within a year. Our topcoat system is designed specifically for vertical surfaces such as cabinetry: it sprays similar to a lacquer and dries fast to prevent sagging, so there are no brush marks and no drips. CabinetCote 9700 topcoat dries in a low gloss, matte finish and hides grain well, so the wood reads as a smooth, factory-finished surface.

All topcoat systems are available with Sterlion™ antimicrobial with SilTrac™ technology that will inhibit the growth of bacteria on the surface and protect the surface from product damaging bacteria, a practical upgrade for the hardest-working room in the house.

Before & after

Same cabinets, same layout: a spray-applied finish that looks factory-made, not brushed on. Any color you choose.

The process, start to finish

A factory-smooth finish,

without losing your kitchen

We handle every step of the process. Doors and drawer boxes are removed, then professionally prepped, primed and sprayed off-site in a controlled environment, which is how the finish ends up smooth and even instead of brushed on in your kitchen. While the doors are being finished, we prep the cabinet boxes and face frames in place, so your kitchen is never torn out and stays largely usable during the job.

We clean any residue or buildup, fix minor defects in the wood, and apply new matching panels or primer and paint in the color of your choice. Then every door and drawer box is reinstalled and aligned. You get the look of new cabinetry without the demolition crew, the dumpster in the driveway, or the five-figure invoice.

Rave reviews

"We resurfaced 6 counters and 1 tub in our kitchen, laundry, and 4 bathrooms with Mike (manager & worked on some areas) & Christian (primary worker). We are thrilled with the great stone like resurfaces, the price was competitive (actually slightly lower) with 2 other companies (both local). We have already signed them to resurface a bar for us. In the 5 rooms they worked on, there was only one area that needed another coat of sealer, which Mike agreed to add in next week. Very pleased and recommend them highly! We wanted new faucets too, so we removed the old one first and reinstalled per Mike's recommendation to get the best finish."
