Bathtub refinishing looks simple: a technician sprays a tired tub and it comes out gleaming. But what decides whether that finish still looks good in five years happens before and after the spraying. Why does prep decide the result?
Every peeling tub we have ever been called in to fix had the same cause: bad prep. Soap scum, body oil and hard-water buildup are hard to see, but they stop the new coating from sticking. A coating sprayed over that will look perfect on day one and peel within months. That is why a good job spends as much time cleaning and repairing the surface as spraying it.

What happens on job day?
A typical job runs a few hours. The room is masked and ventilated, the tub is deep-cleaned and repaired, the coatings are sprayed, and the surface is left to cure. Most tubs are back in use within 24 to 48 hours. No demolition, no plumbing work, no days-long mess. That is the whole point of refinishing over replacement.
The last step is quality control. Bathrooms are not dust-free spray booths, so small rough spots can show up as the coating cures. A professional buff and polish fixes that. With us it is included in the job, not charged extra.
How do you choose a refinisher?
Ask three questions. What does your prep include? Vague answers are a red flag. What coating do you use, and is there a bonding agent? What does the warranty cover, in writing?
